The Eastern Redbud is a tree that is valued far more than its small size might suggest. This lovely harbinger of spring has been called “a breath of fresh air after a long winter” and no less than “one of our most beautiful native trees” by tree expert Michael Dirr. Its early blossoms draw in nectar-seeking insects, including several species of early-season butterflies. This beautiful flowering tree gives an extra dimension to your garden.

Soil Preference: The eastern redbud grows in acidic, alkaline, loamy, moist, rich, sandy, well-drained and clay soils.
